solution-focused counselling

It's time to change the perception of counselling. We don't believe therapy should be some stale, clinical, sterile experience--That's what hospitals are for.

We combine a casual approach with hyper-focused intensity, real talk, everyday language and a whole lot of fun along the way. Self-improvement shouldn't feel like a chore. We want you to look forward to your appointments and leave feeling empowered!

We have gone through extensive education and training to be in the role we're in, but that doesn't make us any better than you or the "expert" of your life. You're the expert of your life... We're just trained and skilled at eliciting the change you're seeking.

We practice solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) which minimizes the time spent in therapy and, more importantly, the time spent struggling or suffering.

ah,Life. like, wtf!?

Don't worry, we got your back.

We've had some crazy experiences on the roller-coaster of life and we're happy to share what we've learned with you. We don't pretend to be experts in everything, but we specialize in a few areas that we're passionate about. Check them out below and if you can relate to any of them, reach out to us and let's talk about it!

Services

Whether you could relate to any of the above or have your own reasons for visiting, the next step is to reach out to us and set up a time to meet. Start with a consultation. It really is the best way to determine if the vibe is right without fear of commitment or obligation. I guarantee you'll know by the end of that time if we'll be a good fit together and at the very least, you'll leave with a bit more clarity on how to move forward.

We offer the following options to best serve your needs.

is counselling covered by my benefits or insurance?

We’ll be blunt: Insurance companies are a pain in the ass. Each have their own specific requirements which differ from the other. For this reason, we do not partner with any specific agencies but we can provide clients with a receipt to submit to their insurance provider. We do not direct bill so it is up to you to determine eligibility for reimbursement. We are happy to provide you with any relevant information as needed.

We recommend asking your insurance company these questions:

  • Does my insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  • What designations or associations are accepted for eligibility?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions I have per year?

  • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for therapy to be covered by my benefits?

online therapy

Online therapy has exploded in popularity and practicality the past couple of years making health care more accessible.  75% of our clients prefer to collaborate from the comfort of their own home and for the majority of our clients it is the only option based on remote locations where they work or live.

Studies have shown that virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy with a few additional benefits:

  • Perfect for rotational shift workers in remote locations with no supports

  • Sessions are more accessible if you travel a lot

  • You don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home

  • No commuting saves time and gas money

  • Weather rarely gets in the way. Don’t have to warm up the car in our Canadian winters.

  • More anonymity by not coming into the office

Just like in-person appointments, confidentiality is our number one priority.  We use a specific PIPEDA-compliant platform for all online sessions.

Some things to remember before starting therapy online:

  • Ensure you have a reliable internet connection.

  • Test the audio & video before each session.

  • Find a good location that is totally private so you can fully immerse yourself into the time you've carved out for yourself.
