“I just can’t seem to find the motivation to get started.”
I hear this constantly in my practice as it’s one of the many reasons people initially reach out
to me.
What many people don’t realize is that you don’t need motivation to begin.
Motivation follows action.
All you need to do is get started, then you will create the motivation to keep going.
How often have you not wanted to go to the gym but you showed up anyway and found that
once you started moving, you got more excited to finish the workout?
That’s because taking action makes you more motivated to continue.
But you can’t force yourself to take action every time.
What’s more important is that you are consistent because consistency is a decision and
motivation is fleeting.
If we all needed to wait until we were motivated to wake up everyday at 5am, it would never
happen. But consistency will ensure it does.
Once you start taking action, you will gain momentum. Momentum makes consistency easier
and is usually accompanied by a feeling of accomplishment.
Consistency isn’t just a habit but a character trait that can be developed and strengthened
over time.
It’s not about waiting for motivation, it’s about showing up for yourself consistently, every
single day.
Consistency can be dramatically improved with a coach who can help hold you accountable.
I’d be happy to be that person for you-let’s connect!
